Instruments previously built in New York City, New York between 1890 to 1973.

In 1888, brothers John and Joseph Favilla left their home country of Italy and moved to Manhattan in New York City. Two years later, they founded Favilla Brothers, which later became Favilla Guitars, Inc. The workshop moved to Brooklyn in 1929, and later back to Manhattan.
Frank Favilla (John´s elder son) began running the facility in the late 1940s. The company moved to larger facilities in Brooklyn in 1959, and in 1965 moved to a 20,000 square-foot plant out in Long Island. The larger facilities employed between fifteen and twenty workers, and the staff produced about 3,000 acoustic guitars a year. Higher production costs were one of the factors that led to the plant closing in 1973.
In 1970, Tom Favilla (third generation) began importing guitars from Japan. Japanese Favillas had the company name in script; American-built Favillas will have the family crest on the headstock.

Here's what Fender says:
The GC-42S is perfect for players wanting a guitar with a smaller body, or who simply want to add a different tonal "color" to their palette. The GC-42S incorporates a slightly smaller Grand Concert-style body, Fender design neck profile, abalone position markers, tortoise shell-style binding, AA Grade solid Spruce top, and a solid Mahogany back.

WASHBURN 1897 Style "New Model" Parlor Guitar $895
Brazilian rosewood B&S, spruce top, ebony fingerboard.
Great sounding, they don't get any warmer or fuller for this size,  and in good condition  for it's age (about 100 years!) Plays and sounds killer (my least favorite adjective. I much prefer "fucking great"). I've re-intonated the saddle by putting a wider one in, so that i now plays in tune.  (sermon follows)  Most of these older Washburns and Martins (older as for very recently for Martins) don't play exactly in tune because they didn't put a wide enough saddle in them to compensate properly for the B string. As a result the B and often the 6th E, play sharp! There is room now to lower the bridge if it ever becomes necessary.

Larger Sized Guitars

Actually NEW. See it on the New Guitar Page.  Wonderful thin neck and very full tone and balance, not boomy or overly bassy.

TACOMA CHIEF C1C   $499, with Dean neck!Roc25Regal 006.jpg (1476401 bytes)Roc25Regal 007.jpg (1392411 bytes)
A lot of great reviews on harmony central click here   Here's an excerpt of one: "SOUND 10. Ok hard to describe....Cool and very modern tone is emitted from this guitar. *Very unusual* Not your run of the mill tone in anyway. It is a bit smaller in booming volume, due of course to cavity size. But projection is unreal better than any guitar I've owned. It cuts, slices and dices most other acoustics in any arena." I agree completely this guitar is a winner, an amazing tone, which can really cut through when you want it to, or be mellow!
