guide to condition: ex=excellent or 95%; ex+=near mint; vgc=very good condition or 90%, minor wear, nothing serious, some light scratching and may include minor repairs; gc=good condition or 80-85%, heavier scratches, some small chips, more noticeable repairs fair= good playable condition, but more serious wear (used and abused comes to mind thinking of some of the school instruments I've repaired!)

Our prices are lower than in Violin Shops, and,
we have a good selection of very good sounding older instruments in the $300-$700 price range.
We also have good (for new and inexpensive, that is) sounding new instrument outfits  in all sizes: all solid carved woods, for  $109/ (smaller sizes); $149/full or 3/4 size;  as an upgrade, $179 with better Prelude strings, or $189 with mellower Helicore strings, both which we recommend, as the factory strings for most violins made are not very good. All our instruments are setup, (which means we check the string height at the bridge and the nut and adjust as necessary!) and have 4 fine tuners!

this is one of those great deals on a warm and full sounding violin that would go for much more in a violin shop!

CONDITION IS VERY GOOD FOR ITS' AGE, NO REPAIRED CRACKS! THE FINGERBOARD IS NOT EBONY, BUT THE OTHER FITTINGS ARE. IT HAS A VERY NICE TONE, AS ONE WOULD HOPE FOR AN INSTRUMENT OF THIS AGE, AND NICE WOOD AS THE PICS SHOW. THE LABEL SAYS STRADIVARIUS (AS USUAL), MADe IN GERMANY, AND IT HAS THE A+S TRADEMARK AS WELL.

MUTES: Tourte, $2.25 (top pic) small rubber, attaches around string, slide it up and push it down on bridge, handiest of all the mutes, and doesn't put it out of tune
(more gentle to the strings) like the roller type does! Light muting and most natural tone.
Ultra, heavy rubber, $6 (bottom pic) push-on type, not as handy as Tourte but more muting without much tone change.   Metal $8,  Metal $19 (no pic). The most muting and tone change, $8 version has spring metal feet that spread as you push it on. $19 version looks like Ultra (see pic)
