CRATE GX212+ $269 2 12" speakers. Exc. shape, with 3 function footswitch.
Johnson Mini Amp $36, (equal to Dan Electro version).
Runs on a 9 volt battery or adaptor, also has headphone
jack, and pretty good crunch (distortion)! Has distortion and a clean setting
but it's more like an overdrive mode since you don't get a very clean sound
from such a tiny speaker, but it's fine for Rock!

ROLAND
GR-09 SYNTHESIZER $299 W/MANUAL, POWER SUPPLY AND MIDI CABLE
A REVIEW FOLLOWS, "The GR-09
was one of Roland's bets, then made better. An exceptional guitar
synth, which can be played so easy by just selecting one of 360 preset
voices, or infinite customizing, after touching, combining capabilities, a
guitar preamp, tuner, note hold, chorus, reverb, all with a press of a
footswitch.
The GR-09 initially scared away some folks, at first glance it looks like you need a degree in rocket science to operate, many potential buyers didn't know you can pug in and play, if you choose, never use any of the controls to super tweak or build your own sounds completely. Tracking is super fast, no noticeable lag. After getting to use it I have an entire horn section patch for a 7 piece blues review, a 5 instrument ensemble of chamber strings, and a super synth party of 11 different moog and other classic synth sounds playing all in unison. It's super compact, lightweight, and built with Roland's "bulletproof" durability.
You can select a different instrument for each string if you want, playing leads with instant access by selecting which string to play ( I "tune" on the GR-09, (not the guitar) for each string to be an open high E in the instrument assigned to that string, it blows your mind how I can switch between trumpet, sax, clarinet, piano lead, a symphony staccato, and synth right on the spot by merely which string I play, or all 6 at a time playing a chord!!!!) Manual is included, I will provide an aftermarket power supply for an additional $28.00 But don't let this scare you. Use the 128 preselects and play jazz organ, Hammond B-3, Rhoads piano, grand piano, banjo, 12 or 18 string guitar etc etc etc` just pick it out of the bank and play!!! Comes with an easy to read manual. I'm an idiot when it comes to this mega tech stuff, was up and running in an hour. This would've easily been Roland's prodigy, except when you first look at it, it is a little intimidating, not knowing it's built with access to so many parameters so it never becomes obsolete. Check out Roland's website, on the owner's manual, or harmony central for some reviews by real folks using this stuff every day.
Health reasons are forcing me out of the music biz.
P.S. You can also patch this via midi to a keyboard or other sound
module, but with 128 ready to go, the expansion option was $350.00 alone
which triples the ability of this unit.
There's a separate guitar out so the only cord you'll have is the Roland
13 pin midi cord, on the controller mounted on your guitar you can select
guitar, synth or mix between the 2."

O'CLOCK: DUALIE, UB3 BASS, VIOLIN PRO, OUTPUT JACK
Dualie sound board
transducer $49($55 list), needs no preamplification
Dual Element Acoustic
Guitar Pickup, The Dualie" For
Steel String and Classical Guitars
The
Dualie may be used as an inside or an outside mounted pickup. The
Dualie comes with a 10 foot Mogami shielded cable and a standard
1/4"Switchcraft output plug.
To get up and
running as quickly as possible, you may install the pickup on the outside of
your guitar with a bit of the special, non-marring putty that is
included with each unit. The Dualie may also be installed inside a guitar. The
Dualie" is a twin element surface mount piezo pickup. It is approximately
1/2" thick, 1 inch wide, and 2 inches long....about the size of what used
to be a 10 cent box of wooden matches. Through the use of twin
piezo elements we have been able to greatly enhance this pickups' resistance
to feedback, particularly when compared to other surface mount transducer
pickups. It is light in weight (a couple of ounces), and does not inhibit top
movement or vibration. *
It is one of the most natural sounding transducers ever! *Should
you wish to install your pickup inside your instrument, each Dualie comes
complete with a standard threaded 1/4" endpin jack that can be used
for inside installation.

design hfn The
HFN's give you a sound that is much more realistic than that of under the
saddle pickups and is quite close to the sound of a good microphone. Along
with being simple to install, the HFN's have excellent feedback rejection
and good string to string balance.
There is
nothing artificial about the sound of the HFN and the usual compressed 'quackiness'
inherent in under the saddle pickup systems is noticeably absent in the
HFN series. The HFN series of pickups utilizes an elegant combination of wonderful materials: rosewood for its main structure and arching with a light weight brass shell for its noise shielded piezo unit. Total weight of the pickup is a very light 0.2 ounces ( 7 grams). It will not affect the acoustic sound of the instrument when not in use. more info, go to »SchattenDesign.com's web |
There are no jigs or fixtures to mess around with during installation and there are no changes to the saddle, the saddle slot or to the playability of the guitar. HFN - Steel String
Guitar Pickup Artist, active $129 (159 list) The HFN piezo sensing unit fits inside a guitar on the bridge plate of virtually any steel string guitar, be it a 12 string or a triple 0. Due its' design, this series of pickups produces sound much closer to that of a good microphone than any under the saddle pickup that you've ever heard. The HFN passive pickup comes prewired to a high quality take-apart endpin jack. Please note that this pickup was designed for use with a preamp and should mate up well with just about any preamp that you already have. |
DeArmond Guitar Mike
BILL
LAWRENCE PICKUPS 5 year warranty, acoustic, magnetic:
A-245C $48 ($75 list), with volume control and 10 foot attached cable (solder less
cable for easy repair); A-300 $39 ($60 list) with cable. As good as you'll
find for under $100, the magnetic pickups have a warm and reasonably natural
sound (none sound really natural to me except the microphone types).
Lloyd Baggs I-Beam, passive $125,
active $189 HOT OFF THE PRESS! »GO
TO WEBSITE!
The iBeam Active System combines a patent pending bridge plate transducer with
an all-discrete class "A" endpin preamp that enables you to simply
"plug-in-and-play". The user installable iBeam reproduces the
natural tone of an acoustic guitar while maintaining perfect string balance
and providing full dynamic range. "I
finally played my first gig with the iBeam, and it was magnificent. It
is by far the best any acoustic has ever sounded for me in any live
situation." –Eddie Bush-Cfox endorser The
patent pending iBeam itself is the heart of the system and weighs only 1/3rd
of an ounce. This revolutionary bridge plate transducer easily sticks to
the bridge plate on the inside of the guitar and does not affect the acoustic
tone of the guitar in any way. The iBeam is microphonic enough to hear
the rich (but correct) texture of finger squeak and top tapping, but is
resistant to feedback and gives you excellent amplified sound without a hint
of piezo quack. Included with each iBeam is a placement jig that allows
you to install the pickup in minutes and get the ideal placement for the
transducer inside the guitar.
CF Martin Thinline, etc., several models in stock.
Mighty Mite soundboard
transducer $29, about the size of a half dollar, but thinner,
comes with endpin (guitar type) 1/4 inch jack/strapbutton. works really well
on anything from a bass violin to a violin! (placement is the key).
For Violin or mandolin I add a chinrest type bracket ($35) that contains
a 1/4" jack. For Bass Violin I attach the pickup over the soundpost. For
guitar I attach it near the edge, moving it on the outside 'till I find a spot
where it sounds right.
Seymour Duncan ntx twin soundspots (metal internal mounting endpin jack) $109, and classic twin soundspot (stick-on jack)$89.90 More seymour duncan in stock, call for availability!

THIN MAN VIOLIN/MANDOLIN
SOUNDBOARD TRANSDUCER W/ EBONY, ROSEWOOD OR BOXWOOD, CARPENTER JACK $74

FOR
A NICE TOUCH WE'VE HAD THE CARPENTER JACK (WHICH ATTACHES LIKE A VIOLIN
CHINREST, WITH THE HILL STYLE CLAMPS) MADE FROM EBONY AND ALSO BOXWOOD, YOUR
CHOICE. WE USUALLY USE THE MIGHTY MITE TRANSDUCER, BUT FOR $25 MORE YOU MAY
CHOOSE THE SMALLER DUNCAN SOUNDSPOT.
THIS SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO ATTACH TO THE SOUNDBOARD, WHICH GIVES IT A
MORE NATURAL
(WARMER) TONE THAN THE BRIDGE TRANSDUCERS THAT ARE SO COMMON (AND COMMONLY
SOUND TOO BRIGHT!). I USUALLY ATTACH THE PICKUP WITH A REUSABLE
ADHESIVE, AND PLACE IT UNDER THE CHINREST OR THE TAILPIECE (ON A
MANDOLIN). YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRILL ANY HOLES OR
MAKE ANY MODIFICATIONS TO YOUR INSTRUMENT!
CARPENTER
OUTPUT JACK for Violin, Viola, Mandolin Model: $34
IN ROSEWOOD, EBONY, & BOXWOOD (ALL THE SAME PRICE)
The jack assembly takes a standard
1/4" plug so that you can use a quality guitar cord....and there is
enough clearance to plug in most wireless units.
| Shadow SH-2000A
$89
($102.95 list) Violin Pickup. Pickup is stick-on, Includes "chin rest" style volume and tone controls and 12 foot instrument cable. Use your own bridge!, or put it on a mandolin! Use the Shadow Volume/Tone control for anything $59, pickup extra |
vvm
pro violin pickup w/volume control $129($145 list). a quote
from them,
"Over the past 6
years we have literally had a ton of people who asked if we could design a
pickup that could simply attach to their instrument instead of having to go
through the hassle of changing bridges. The pickup had to sound terrific,
had to be simple and quick to install or remove. It also had to be complete
and ready to go with no wiring, soldering or other fussing around.
Whether you're using the
VVM on a violin, viola, or mandolin, you will find unparalleled sound quality
and dynamic response. As with all of our pickups, the new VVM is designed to
operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp.
The VVM comes complete and ready to use. Installation simply means attaching
the jack assembly to your instrument, applying a bit of the special
supplied putty to the back of the pickup, and then sticking the pickup in
place. That's about it. Total installation time for those who are all thumbs
seems to average about 3 minutes.
A note about
installing the VVM: Placing the VVM sensor on the bridge of a violin or viola
is about as quick and easy as it gets. Placing the VVM sensor on a mandolin,
while it certainly isn't difficult, will take just a touch more effort on your
part. In order to get the maximum out of the VVM on a mandolin, the sensor
must be placed on a spot on the top (usually on or next to a brace, and
generally in the vicinity of the bridge) that gives the best sound and
response......it just takes a few minutes to find that spot."
The VVM Series will
fit the following Instruments: Violins:
4/4 (full size), 3/4, 1/2; Violas;
Mandolins: with a rim thickness of up to
2 1/16"
ub-03
upright bass violin pickup $125 ($140 list). the description
from their web,
"Our latest upright
pickup is now available. It is an impressive blend of ease of installation and
unparalleled sound quality. The
pickup, which is about the size of a silver dollar, attaches right to the face
of the bridge with the super strong double sided sticky tape that we supply.
You can glue it on with a little bit of 5 minute epoxy in about 6 minutes, but
to tell you the truth....it sounds far better installed with the tape and
the installation is just a strong and durable and won't damage the bridge if
you want to remove the pickup. We
have designed all of our pickups to operate properly and sound terrific
without the use of a preamp. The pickup has excellent volume and sounds
equally fantastic whether bowed or plucked. The unique design of the pickup and
it's placement insures that it remains feed back free while being able to
generate impressively high output and clean clear sound. It does not alter the
acoustic sound of the bass. The pickup comes complete with a 1/4" output
jack and a mounting kit to mount the output jack solidly to the underside of
the tailpiece, where it is protected and will remain out of sight.
Each pickup is hand built and tested in our workshops. It is warranted for a period of two years from
date of purchase. See warranty information section of installation instruction
sheet for details."
